a conversation with papa jim (faq)
Q: What is it that you do?
A: PJCK is a culinary service to the community that allows our fans to participate in our charity work and purchase some of our best dishes weekly. Meals are properly packaged and delivered fresh and cold - with simple heating instructions.
Q: Why are you doing this?
A: Since most of our week is focused on cooking for charity, these proceeds will help to support the volunteer efforts of our staff.
Q: How will I know what you will be serving?
A: The menu for the weekend will be posted earlier in the week on our website and social - and then you may order online.
Q: How do I place an order?
A: On ladle days - go to our website, click on "ORDER" and place your order!
Q: What's a ladle day?
A: A ladle day is the day we finalize the menu and accept online orders.
Q: How do I find out about ladle day?
A: Ladle days will always be posted on our website and social - also join our mailing list to receive emails!
Q: Why can't I just order all the time?
A: Most of our weekly efforts go to cooking for charity to freely feed those who can't afford the dishes offered here. That being said, the rest of our time is limited and since these are all fresh ingredients and amazing dishes, we simply cannot always meet the high demand.
Q: How often do you ladle?
A: Usually abut once a week! However, sometimes we commit to special charity projects that might require our particular attention and cause us to pause. Also, everyone deserves some hard-earned time off - and Papa Jim loves to travel (more on that soon)!
Q: Do you sell out quickly?
A: OH YEAH! Seriously recommend going to the site as soon as ordering is open... and type FAST!
Q: What happens when I have things in my cart but you sell out before I can check out?
A: It can happen - and we know it's frustrating! But we do not allow pre-orders or holds.
Q: Do you have a storefront?
A: Not at this time. We only have a certified (ghost) kitchen. But... stay tuned for info on our future venue(s)!
Q: Is it delivery only?
A: Yes, free local delivery only (see below for delivery areas). Unless we have a pick up week which will be announced online.
Q: When do you deliver?
A: Usually the free delivery window will be on Saturday's between 10am - 2pm. Any changes to delivery schedule will be posted.
Q: Do you ship out of the area?
A: No. However, custom delivery may be available - contact us!
Q: Papa, why do your prices seem higher than most?
A: Great question! We stand by the superior quality of our food. I drive to Maine to hand pick the lobsters for our bisque. Remember, prices include tax and delivery.
